After Norway and Scotland being firmly established on the swimrun scene, we have impatiently been waiting for the first confirmed swimrun on the rugged shorelines of Ireland.
It is Breca, the organisers of Buttermere swimrun in the Lake District (UK), that has chosen the northwestern island Arranmore (Árainn Mhór) as the location of the 54k swimrun on August 20. Swim run Ireland has also announced a race further south in Galway in October 2016, but there are still some details to wait for.
For all swimrunners who want to discover new wild swimrun territory and be part of writing swimrun history, this could be the entry point to an environment very well suited for a coming race expansion the coming years
